Frequently Asked Questions
The only discount offered is for Delta employees and their dependents; this includes retirees. If a student plans to use VA benefits, the Delta discount will not apply.
If a student registers within two months of their class start date, payment is expected immediately upon registration. If a student is outside this two-month range, full payment is expected when the student is notified at the two-month mark that payment is due.
Email atpctp@dps.delta.com to request a copy of the Payment and Cancellation Policy.
Business casual attire (no jeans) is required during training. FSTDs and classrooms can be cool, so consider bringing a light jacket.
No advance preparation is needed. All information required for the course will be supplied when you arrive.
You do not need a partner to register for our course. Students who do not have a requested simulator partner will be paired with another student after registration.
We use the A-220, A-320, A-330, A-350, B-717, B-737, and B-757/767.
Simulator availability on each fleet varies from week to week, so simulator schedules will be determined after you begin the course.
We do not administer the ATM knowledge test; however, we do provide a voucher which can be used to pay for the exam to be taken at a PSI test center of your choice.
The voucher we provide does not have to be used immediately following your ATP-CTP course. It is valid for approximately one year from the date of issue. You can use it at any PSI test location you prefer, whenever your schedule permits.
The simulator instructor will sign and date your certificate at the end of your last simulator training session.
Though there may be some questions on the knowledge test from the ATP-CTP, this course is not preparation for the ATM. You should set aside personal study time to prepare for this exam.
Our course only includes the ATP-CTP. We do not provide check rides or offer type ratings.
GI Bill benefits can only be used at our Atlanta location. The amount of tuition the VA covers will depend on the type of GI Bill used, the months of eligibility the student has remaining, and the percentage of benefit to which they are entitled.
To be eligible for a GI Bill reimbursement, a student will need to have a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or Statement of Benefits from the VA, an FAA First Class medical certificate that is valid for the entirety of their ATP-CTP course dates, and a private or commercial pilot’s license.
No. The VA does not make exceptions for this policy, and military medical exams cannot be used as a substitute for the First Class medical requirement.
An application can be started by going to https://www.va.gov/education/apply-for-education-benefits/application/1990/introduction. It takes around 30 days for the application to be processed.
Yes, unlike the medical certificate, the COE is not a time sensitive document for these purposes. You can still apply for a reimbursement with a COE that is issued after your course dates.
No. Any COE or Statement of Benefits indicating that you have established eligibility for education benefits with the VA will suffice, even if it was for previous training or classes. However, please note that the amount of benefits you have remaining may have changed since the COE was issued.
Processing times vary, but if a student turns in all documents by the start of their course, they can expect to receive the funds 3-6 weeks after the course concludes.
Some military units agree to pay for their service member’s training. Approval is usually made using a Standard Form 182, but this is dependent on the unit’s internal policies. Payments must be furnished via Government Purchase Card using the payment link sent to the student and the standard payment timeline applies. An SF-182 in itself is not sufficient to hold a student’s registration.
Yes, if you are not a U.S. citizen or a U.S. national, you will have to submit a STA application to TSA’s Flight Training Security Program (FTSP). You may begin this process here: https://www.fts.tsa.dhs.gov/home.
The only additional documentation you will need for our course outside of the clearance from TSA is your passport.
We are not involved with our students’ travel visas. This varies per country. Each student is responsible for obtaining all required travel documents based on the country of residence.
