Delta Professional Services (DPS) Welcomes Campbell University Truist Business Scholars
On April 8, 2024, the Truist Business Scholars Program cohort, consisting of thirteen first-year students and three staff members from Campbell University, arrived at the Atlanta campus of Delta Air Lines for a day of immersive learning and exploration.

The Truist Business Scholars Program stands as a beacon for aspiring business leaders, offering a four-year journey of academic enrichment, leadership development, and meaningful connections. With a limited intake of twenty students per cohort, this program ensures personalized attention and tailored support for each participant. Alongside a $1,000 scholarship award, students embark on a transformative path towards realizing their potential in the world of business.
The day began with a tour of Delta Air Lines state-of-the-art facilities, providing students with a firsthand look at the intricate workings of aviation operations. Guided by DPS Flight Simulator Instructor Hendricks Edgerton, the group explored key areas such as the Operations & Customer Center (OCC) and the Flight Ops training facility. They also had the opportunity to tour the inside of a Full Motion Simulator. “Students were amazed at the complexity of the device and the cost,” said Edgerton. “The tour offered an understanding of the multifaceted nature of airline management. They had no idea of such a support system for an airline.”
A highlight of the visit was a presentation by DPS President, Marc Lippens. Drawing upon his wealth of entrepreneurial experience, Lippens shared invaluable insights into the principles of entrepreneurship and the essential components of building a successful company. Lippens also covered topics including innovation, market strategy, leadership, and resilience.
Following the presentation, students engaged in a Q&A session, seizing the opportunity to gain insight into the nuances of business leadership. From practical advice on navigating industry challenges to discussions on emerging trends and technologies, the exchange proved both informative and encouraging.
“Thanks again to DPS and Hendricks for a great day at Delta,” said Dr. Baglia, Campbell University Professor and Director of the Truist Business Scholars Program. “You went above and beyond to make it a great learning experience for all of us at Campbell, and we appreciate your efforts!” The visit underscored the commitment of DPS to nurture talent and foster innovation at any age. By providing students with access to real-world experiences, mentorship, and educational resources, initiatives like these play a pivotal role in shaping the business leaders of tomorrow.
